KidLitGN opened its pitch window back up from now until 8 pm October 17, so if you didn’t get a chance to pitch your kids-YA graphic novel pitches (including comics-style PBs), head to this article for details. People who got their pitches in during the official pitch window got a bonus of an extra pitch, so I put another one up.
I have four pitches total now, and one thing I’ve been noticing is that not every writer is taking the opportunity to attach a bio art file, so I’ve added a couple of mine below as an example of what you can do with your bio. (Another tip: save your bios as an image file. Uploading them as a PDF won’t create a an eye-catching thumbnail.)

I used the presentation template in Canva to create these, which the brilliant Nicole Harwood introduced me to. Canva is a much more robust option than the sad Keynote program I used to create my bios last year.
Everyone can do their bios differently. There are many example of different bios on the pitch event right now that work just as well or even better than what I did, but I liked this format as a way to allow me to explain why I wrote these stories, which also fits within the bios purposes.
Anyway, just a quick tip to writers of graphic novels or comics-style PBS out there who might be looking for an idea on what to do with their bio for this limited pitch opportunity. Good luck to all who are pitching. And here’s an infographic about KidLitGN’s Trick-or-Treat pitch opportunity.
